Guru is Bhagavan. An analogy. The moon, the sun, the moon only reflects light of the sun, the moon is covered in jewels, the sunlight hits the moon and gives you the moonlight. The guru shakti comes from bhagvan. Just as the the moonlight or moonshine is coming from the sun. The guru is the moon and bhagvan in the sun. Behind a guru is bhagvan. Guru is Bhagavan. Vinod Baba
Lecture by Vinod Baba on following our acharyas.
English translation by Radhanath Das. The seed imprinted by maya stays birth after birth. It does not go away. However god does not want to cause pain or suffering but if the sadhaka gets even a slight bit of happiness, they get affected /infatuated (mohit) by that. They get a taste of that happiness and sleep very peacefully. They do bhajan but the thing stuck in the heart does not go away. At the time of doing bhajan they think “we are getting the grace of thakurji” but that desire for bhagavad-prapti (attaining Bhagavan) and that anasakti (detachment or disgust) for this world, this bodily identity, transmigatory existence (samsara) , the cycle of birth and death, the pain and sadness etc … it does not come. That seed (of attraction for maya) does not go. Bhagavan says “first of all I make my bhaktas unhappy, unhappy, unhappy, unhappy in all respects and then when there is no other way out for them they become surrendered unto me. I take out that seed of desire (vasana). Ram das kathiya baba was a very big saint of Vrindavan. He was very well respected. One old saint used to live with him. He […]
Vinod Baba on the holy name.
English translation by Radhanath Das. harer nama harer nama hare namaiva kevalam, kalau nasteva nasteva nasteva gatir anyatha: Only hari naam, this is the remedy for Kali-yug, the same thing has been said thrice here for the sake of being firm. This our sanatan dharma, our scriptures are telling us this. People in Kali-yug they have a short life span, disturbed minds and hearts, low intelligence etc. They do not think of Bhagvan. They are fallen and do not have peace. So, how will they do bhajan? How will they fix their hearts upon bhajan? In this way in Kali-yug harinam is the ideal sadhana. In Satya yug, dhyana [meditation] was the way of devotion. In Tretra yug, through yagya [fire sacrifices] and in Dwapara yug through seva [thakurji/deity worship]. In Kali yug we do harinam-sankirtan, chanting of the names of Lord Krishna. There is so much power in harinam, it is very dominant. The name and the possessor the name are non-different. It is not like other names, this name, that name. God has many names, some people do kirtan of this name and that name. You must chant the name received from your guru, with faith (sradha) and (nishta). There […]
Kripa – Mercy – Vinod Baba
Kripa or Mercy discussed by Vinod Baba. Kripa lakshana – Symptoms of mercy 1. Heart and mind will be more towards Radharani and you will be more and more detached from the material world and energy. 2. That you see all as equal and see the Lord in all. 3. It will be natural that you see the glory and good in everyone. 4. That you do not see fault in anyone but you will see the fault in oneself. 5. That you see all as better than oneself. Humility. 6. When this kripa of Radharani has fully blossomed eagerness will arrive. If eagerness has not arrived you should know that kripa has not manifested yet. This was taken from a Hindi conversation between Vinod Baba and Sacinandan Swami.
Vinod Baba on Humility
Humility is an ornament for a sadhu – Vinod Baba Naam is the Lord. Naam will begin as a seed. It will grow into a tree and will bear fruit. The tree with the largest fruit naturally bows down. This is a sign of humility. – Vinod Baba
Vinod Baba on Japa
Japa has three divisions: mānasika (in the mind), upāṁśu (chanting very softly), and vācika (audible). Bhakti-rasāmṛta Sindhu mentions the second one, upāṁśu. When japa is done in the mind, it falls into the category of smaraṇa. If japa is mānasika it comes under the category of smaraṇa. Thus, sometimes the word nāma-smaraṇa is also used for nāma-japa. When it is done loudly, it may fall into the category of kīrtana, and there, in the definition of japa, only the second type has been included (upāṁśu or sulaghūccāram). Hari-bhakti Vilāsa mentions all three divisions of japa. Vinod baba
Vinod Baba – Take shelter of Radha Naam and Radharani.
English translation by Radhanath Das. Among all the names of God, Radha naam is the superior most name. By chanting Radha naam, all sins wash away and Krishna himself tries to please and shower mercy on the devotee. For a fallen soul victimized by the negative traits of Kali-Yuga, the best path is to take shelter of Srimati Radharani and Radha naam. – Vinod Baba
Vinod Baba on Radha Naam.
English translation by Radhanath Das. Padmapuran has answered that among all the names of Bhagwan, Radha naam is the superior most name. By chanting Radha naam, all sins wash away and Krishna himself tries to please and shower mercy on the sadhak. For a fallen soul victimized by the negative traits of Kaliyuga, the best path is to take shelter of Srimati Radharani and Radha naam, and pray to her, “He Radharani, He Karunamayi, I take the shelter of your lotus feet. I am yours. Please save me! Please have mercy on me! Please protect me!” Krishna says He will give all kinds of Siddhis to such a sadhak and will eventually free him from all wordly ties to accept him in his pastimes of Goloka. Vinod Baba
Vinod Baba on Srimati Radharani.
English translation by Radhanath Das. This source of happiness is Radharani. She is the hladini shakti of Krishna, indifferent from him. That is why she is the most compassionate personality. She is always giving happiness to everyone who sees her, calls her and even remembers her. And she bestows upon her devotees this quality of compassion. She overlooks the shortcomings of the devotee since she knows humans have so many shortcomings and can never be free from them without her unconditional grace. Once a devotee takes the shelter of her lotus feet and prays to her, “Hey karunamayi, o the compassion personified, o the love personified, please accept this fallen jivatma. I have no power to fight with your Maya, your delusive power. I am your servant but am constantly serving this body’s senses and even have no desire to free myself from their slavery. Such a fool I am! Please please shower your mercy on me and drag my mind to your lotus feet. I am totally incapable of freeing myself from the worldly attractions. Please have mercy on me!” Hearing this Radharani’s heart becomes flooded with compassion. Such compassion is not there in all the goddesses combined, though […]
