Who is God? Sri Bhagavan or Sri Hari possesses three shaktis: Chit Shakti, Maya Shakti and Jiva Shakti.
•
Chit Shakti – also known as the svarupa shakti or antaranga shakti. It is the internal potency of God including all the divine abodes and spiritual realm. Therefore it is para-shakti or supreme shakti. Sri Krishna is Sat Cit Ananda, his Chit Shakti or internal potency comprises of:
Samvit – the knowledge potency.
Sandhini – the existence potency.
Hladini Shakti – the bliss potency.
All three of Hladini, Samvit and Samdhini are present in Visuddha Sattva. Visuddha sattva – extremely pure goodness. Suddha-Sattva is known as pure goodness.
•
Maya Shakti – also known as the bahiranga shakti. It is the external potency of God including all of the infinite number of universes. Jiva Goswami explains external Maya Shakti is of two types:
Jiva Maya – it covers our intelligence and doesn’t allow us to discover our svarupa and it distracts us from the lotus feet of Bhagavan.
Guna Maya – it covers us through the three gunas of sattva, rajas and tamas.
•
Jiva Shakti – also known as the tatashta shakti. It is present in all jivas or living beings. Jiva Goswami explains there are two types of jivas:
Nitya mukta – Eternally free – Turned towards Krishna since time infinite. Those in the spiritual world eternally.
Nitya baddha – Eternally bound – Turned away from Krishna since time infinite. Those in the material world – conditioned jivas. They suffer hellish pains in the material world.
